Object States Assistant is a script that provides a more efficient and effective way of working with multi-state objects in InDesign

Object States Assistant (OSA) adds new functionalities to the Object States panel and improves the user experience. OSA improves states navigation, it also allows you to add objects to specific states, as well as remove and release multiple states in a single operation.

To update to the latest version of OSA, download the trial version (even if you have a licensed version)  and follow the installation instructions.

OSA is platform independent; the same software will run on Adobe InDesign CC on the Mac OS or Windows.

• Download

• Extract the folder ObjectStatesAssistant from

Mac OS

• Double-click


• Right-click on, and then choose Extract All

• When presented with the Extraction Wizard dialog box, click Next

• Use the default location (the current directory)

• When the extraction is complete, click Finish

• Quit Adobe InDesign

• Copy the ObjectStatesAssistant Folder into the Scripts folder that's inside Adobe InDesign Application folder


• Quit Adobe InDesign CC

• Remove/Delete the ObjectStatesAssistant Folder into the Scripts folder that's inside Adobe InDesign Application folder.
